This past weekend found the Johnny Cupcakes team coming together for the launching of our 5th Bakery, located at 45 Circuit Avenue, Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts. The new shop is found on Martha’s Vineyard, a small island off the coast of Massachusetts and one of New England’s most bustling vacation spots. People from all over the world make the trek every summer to enjoy MV for all of its camping, beaches, shopping and fine dining. The Johnny Cupcakes brand (and more notably, the JC family) has a rich history with the island which made it a no-brainer for us to have a permanent spot there of our own.

If we told you the exact amount of time between our initial idea for a shop on MV and the date of its opening, you’d likely tell us to stop pulling your leg as it would seem near impossible for so much careful planning to be squeezed into such a short period of time.

Every last detail about this location invites you to take a closer look, from the classic and curiosity-piquing Cupcake & Crossbones logo hanging from the store’s facade to the intricately designed posters on the wall which tell the fabled story of the brand. It’s impossible to walk out of our Martha’s Vineyard shop without feeling like you’re in on the joke, armed with the tools needed to smile at the uninformed hungry masses who are fooled on a daily basis by our confectionary trickery. It’s more than a little fitting that our store resides in a town with “bluff” in its name.

The grand opening celebration went off without a hitch thanks to our fantastic customers who wound up forming a line which wrapped around the block. The line was composed of many familiar faces and plenty of new faces too as everyone came together to welcome us to the island. Our new neighbors also deserve a special thank you for putting up with the controlled chaos that tends to follow us wherever we go!
