When I was in Los Angeles last, visiting the Johnny Cupcakes LA shop—I made a quick trip to Gallery 1988’s second location in Santa Monica, for the Pee-Wee Herman tribute art show.
Jam packed with laughter and good vibes—everyone was reminiscing on their favorite scenes from Paul Ruben’s most notable movie.
Jensen and Meg who helped make this all happen. I love how many positive memories and experiences this fellow has provided for both artists and non-artists alike. If Jensen lived in Massachusetts, our companies would probably go downhill as we’d be playing Nintendo and talking about childhood nostalgia too much.
This was on felt! So cool.
fyi – most of my life my dad has quoted this particular Pee-Wee movie within the movie. When I was living with my parents, anytime someone would call for me—my dad would say, “Paging Mister Herman, Paging Mister Herman, you have a telephone call in the lobby!” Love you dad!
My once internet friend, Nic Cowan, painted this piece for the show. Nic once worked at KidRobot and I’d ask him advice on where I should open my shop, what the neighborhood is like, etc. Thanks again dude!

Surprise surprise.. One of the girls helping out at the opening, happens to live a town over from me, in Cohasset, Massachusetts.
I also came out to support my good pal and JC designer, Chris D.—who crafted this delightful piece of art. If you can’t make it out to Gallery 1988, check out this print and more via their website.
